Baroness Estelle Morris, Patron of Darley Dale based First Taste, launched the Charity’s latest chair based exercise CD “Yet More Music to Move” on Friday 13 May at the Whitworth Centre, Darley Dale.
This new resource has been produced specifically to encourage care / nursing homes’ & day care centres’ care staff to undertake sessions of gentle exercise coupled with reminiscence for frail older people in their care. Many other groups or individuals may find the CD useful too.
The exercises have been carefully devised by Physiotherapist, Angela Hill who gives the voice-over exercises to background music from well known musicals. First Taste’s Inter-active Music Tutor, Tom Pilkington has overseen the CD’s production collaborating with his brother, Stephen Pilkington, who plays the music on his Steinway grand piano. It is hoped that the familiar tunes, that have been very carefully chosen by Tom & Stephen, will also provoke memories & stimulate conversation.
Funding of this new CD has been given by Bakewell Rotary, AgeUK Derby & Derbyshire through their Strictly No Falling Programme, the Barchester Charitable Foundation & Dr Jennifer Bute.
